Online Psychologist for the Albanian Diaspora
Therapy in your mother tongue, anywhere in the world. Connect with licensed Albanian psychologists from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and beyond, with flexible scheduling and payment in euros. Transparent pricing from €46.
Licensed, verified psychologists
Before joining Mendje, every psychologist is verified: degree, professional licence and clinical experience. Some are licensed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kosovo; others by the relevant authority in the country where they practise. We do not work with unlicensed counsellors.
A psychologist in Albanian, wherever you live
When you live far from your homeland, finding a psychologist who speaks Albanian and understands your culture can be almost impossible. Even the best local psychologists often do not grasp what homesickness, the pressure of two cultures or Albanian family dynamics really mean. Mendje removes this barrier: it connects you online with licensed Albanian psychologists who speak your mother tongue, no matter where in the world you are.
The challenges the diaspora faces
Life abroad brings specific stressors that an Albanian psychologist understands immediately:
Homesickness and loneliness
The feeling of being far from family, the absence of a family network and loneliness in a place where everything feels different.
Identity between two worlds
Living between Albanian culture and that of the country where you now live, the pressure to belong to both without fully feeling part of either.
Migration and integration stress
A new language, work, paperwork and the burden of starting from scratch: all at once, it can weigh heavily.
Family dynamics from a distance
Parents' expectations back home, the guilt of leaving and the challenges of raising children between two languages and cultures.
How to connect with an Albanian psychologist from abroad?
Distance is no longer a barrier and getting started with psychological support takes just a few minutes:
- Download the Mendje app from the App Store or Google Play, wherever you are.
- Fill in a short questionnaire about what you are going through.
- Our algorithm matches you with a licensed Albanian psychologist.
- Book your session at a time that fits your time zone.
- Start your session online, by video, audio or messages, in Albanian.

Why an Albanian online psychologist, not a local one?
A local psychologist may be excellent professionally, but there is often a barrier of language and context: you have to explain the culture, the family and the homesickness that an Albanian understands with few words. With Mendje, you speak directly in your mother tongue, without long waitlists and without having to translate your emotions. Mendje does not replace urgent care: if you are in crisis, see the emergency helplines for the country you are in.
Frequently asked questions from the diaspora
Can I talk to an Albanian psychologist from abroad?
Yes. Mendje was built precisely for Albanians living abroad. Whether you are in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, the UK, the USA or anywhere else, all you need is the free app and an internet connection to connect with Albanian psychologists licensed in Albania or Kosovo. Sessions are in Albanian, the language in which emotions come out without translation, and many psychologists also speak German, English or Italian. Every session lasts 50 minutes, takes place by video, audio or messages inside the app and costs from €46 to €55, depending on the plan. There is no need to travel, wait on a list or find an Albanian-speaking psychologist in the city where you live. Availability is shown in your own time zone, including evenings and weekends. How booking works step by step is explained on how Mendje works.
Do the hours fit my time zone?
Yes. Psychologists' availability is shown automatically in your phone's time zone, so the time you see and book is the real time of the session, whether you are in Europe, the UK or the USA. For the diaspora in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy there is no time difference with Albania and Kosovo at all: a session at 19:00 is 19:00 for the psychologist too. For the UK the difference is one hour, for the USA six to nine hours, which the app works out for you. Psychologists offer flexible slots, including evenings and weekends, so a session fits after work or school without taking time off. If something changes, you can reschedule free of charge up to 24 hours before the session, directly in the app. Cancellation and plan details are on the pricing page.
What language are sessions in?
Sessions are in Albanian, your mother tongue. For many people in the diaspora this is the whole point: in the language of the country you live in you can describe symptoms, but emotions, childhood memories and family dynamics come out more accurately in the language you lived them in. Your psychologist doesn't need you to translate expressions, customs or cultural context. Many psychologists on Mendje also speak German, English or Italian, so if you grew up abroad and feel more comfortable switching languages mid-conversation, you can. The languages each psychologist speaks are listed in their profile inside the app before you book, and you can choose your psychologist on that basis. If your children who grew up abroad struggle with Albanian, message us and we'll suggest a bilingual psychologist. How choosing a psychologist works is described on online psychologists at Mendje.
How do I pay if I am outside the country?
Payment is in euros, inside the app, by bank card, through your phone's app store. You don't need a bank account in Albania or Kosovo and there are no international transfers. For the diaspora in Germany, Austria, Italy and France there is no conversion: from €46 to €55 per session, depending on the plan. In Switzerland, the UK and the USA your bank converts the amount to francs, pounds or dollars at its own rate; the price stays comparable and is often noticeably lower than a private session in the country where you live. There are no hidden fees, subscriptions or long-term commitments: you pay only for the sessions you book. Sessions are paid privately; Mendje does not bill health insurers. You can compare all plans and prices on the pricing page.
Do the psychologists understand the challenges of life abroad?
Yes. Our psychologists are Albanian and work every week with clients from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, the UK and the USA, so they know the challenges of life abroad first-hand, not just from books: missing family, the stress of paperwork and work, the feeling of being between two cultures without fully belonging to either, the pressure to send money home, marriage and parenting across two languages, and the loneliness you can't quite say on phone calls with your parents. You don't have to explain your background, the weddings, the family expectations or why something is complicated. Some of our psychologists have lived abroad themselves. You can choose a psychologist with experience specifically in migration topics, based on their profile. Articles on these topics by our psychologists are on the Mendje blog.
Are sessions private and secure?
Yes. Video and audio sessions run over an encrypted connection and are not recorded; messages with your psychologist are seen only by you and them. Personal data is processed under the GDPR, the European data-protection regulation, and stored on servers in the European Union, a standard that applies equally to users in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Every psychologist is professionally bound to confidentiality: what you say in a session is not shared with anyone, including family, except where the law requires otherwise, such as a serious risk to life. Nobody in the country where you live or in the Albanian community there learns that you are seeing a psychologist unless you tell them. You can delete your account and data at any time. Access to the app is protected by your password and biometric login. Details are in our privacy policy.
